Arne Slot Asserts He Is Secure and Retains Liverpool's Support After PSV Eindhoven Loss

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's understandable for doubts to be raised about his future after another convincing loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their 9th defeat in 12 games, marking the team's poorest run after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie champions on a difficult evening at Anfield.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I have got plenty of support from above,” the coach commented.

“It's important to change things and secure a win obviously but when you're coaching a team and underperforming then it's expected that people question you.”

He noted, “I accept my situation. It is not the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to provide details on his conversations with the team officials, Slot explained:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful for the squad and to me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me all the time of the day to say they back me.”

He mentioned, “During our regular exchanges I sense the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them after this defeat yet so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Issues and Player Response

Slot highlighted familiar weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their European loss, namely poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the answers. Honestly, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder remarked.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't have to wait to consider it. I’m past feeling anger internally. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the words.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I play for the club I love. I support them, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Reds side enduring a phase of this nature with performances so bad.”

He finished, “However we still have the crest on our shirts. And as long as that badge is taken away, we’re always going to fight.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad return to its rightful place, prove once more what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the greatest side in the planet.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
