Lando Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
Lando Norris has outscored his teammate at each of the previous five grands prix.
Lando Norris narrowly beat team-mate and championship contender the Australian for the fastest time in the final moments of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the championship lead from his teammate by just one point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, topped the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Until that point, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver throughout the hour before sprint qualifying due at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in the points battle, trailing 36 points Norris, was classified in 17th place as his Red Bull team followed a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to have an incident, though minor, when he rotated at corner four early in the session.
The Japanese lost control over the track edges before sliding over the gravel trap, and was lucky to escape with just a light touch of the fence.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the very end of the session, rotating twice through the fast downhill Mergulho turn leading to the final bend on to the pit straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in P19, one place behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were far ahead of the rest of the field, with the German's car P3, over half a second slower than Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
