The striker has signed with Sheffield United only half a year after starting insulting chants directed at their manager, Chris Wilder.

This experienced forward, a free agent after departing from Leeds, has signed a contract joining the Championship club in difficulty through the winter. Bamford's seven-year time at Elland Road was ended through agreement in August.

One of the player's last memorable actions as a Leeds player included starting offensive songs about Chris Wilder during the club’s promotion party this spring. Now, the one-cap England player is set to play under Wilder as the Blades’ manager looks to rescue the team he loves away from the relegation zone.

Past History Between the Striker & Wilder

Both men had a past prior to Leeds earned promotion back to the Premier League the previous campaign while Sheffield United were defeated in the playoff final to Sunderland. Wilder described the forward as “a muppet” when the roles were reversed during the 2018-19 season and the Blades won direct promotion whereas Leeds United fell short in the promotion playoffs.

Reconciliation & Moving Forward

All appears has been put behind them with United, the Championship’s lowest scorers, in desperate need of a boost up front and Bamford aiming to rejuvenate his career.

The Wilder chant gained traction in April. An apologetic Patrick along with Leeds boss, Daniel Farke, phoned the Sheffield United manager the following day.

Wilder stated back then: “Had a conversation with Patrick yesterday and I’ve no problem at all with it. I’m not sure about the language from a fellow professional! But I valued and respected him calling me.

“We had a short while and the same again I spoke to Daniel Farke as well and had a longer discussion with him and he is a great person, a top guy. When I was playing we used to dish it out and accept it and that’s part and parcel of football at every level, even on a Sunday morning. I have no problem at all. I am cool with the situation and I said that to Patrick.”

Latest Playing Struggles

Bamford made 18 games with Leeds United in the previous campaign but the ex- Nottingham Forest, Chelsea & Boro striker has faced difficulties with fitness issues over the past few seasons.
