The former Liverpool manager admits a return to coach Liverpool is theoretically possible.

Jurgen Klopp, who left Liverpool in 2024, has suggested that a future comeback is something that could happen. The 58-year-old, following a hugely successful near-decade reign which brought continental glory and the Premier League crown for three decades, has since taken on roles as head of global soccer for Red Bull and in an advisory capacity with the German Football League.

Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

Liverpool won England's top flight last season, yet numerous supporters holding him in high esteem would be thrilled by the notion that he may eventually return. Speaking candidly, he told his interviewer: “I stated I refuse to lead any other side in England. So that means if then it’s Liverpool...yeah. In theory, it could happen.”

“Being 58, so the choice could be mine later on, who knows. Is a decision required immediately? If so, I wouldn't return. Luckily, no such pressure exists. I'll wait and observe what the future brings.”

What Would Lure Him Back?

When asked about what circumstances must arise to bring him back to the dugout, he revealed he isn't eager to such a return. “It's unclear to me, I enjoy my current role,” he commented. “I don't crave being a coach; I avoid standing in the rain for two-and-a-half or three hours; No need for press conferences four times, three times a week or constant media duties weekly.

“I don’t miss the dressing room as a dressing room, but sitting in a restaurant alongside the squad enjoying conversation, is pleasant. We won a lot of games meaning regularly positive atmosphere at the club. I can still hear the captain's chuckle vividly recalled for example.”

Commending Arne Slot

He commended for his successor, crediting him due to the changes that won the league in the previous season. The team has suffered a string of losses in every contest after a summer spending spree, but he rubbished the suggestion of it representing a slump.

“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker like Florian Wirtz, doubters will be silenced with negative comments. He’s an incredible talent. Ekitike, excellent performer. They have a strong balanced team. No need for concern over the club, they will be fine.”

Heartfelt Words for Diogo Jota

Klopp also spoke emotionally regarding the passing of Jota, a player he signed in 2020, and its impact for the team. The Portugal international lost his life in a vehicle collision alongside his brother recently.

“How do you replace somebody like Diogo? It goes beyond his on-field talent, it's his character. It's hard to picture the squad absent his presence. I find it difficult to discuss about it. It was an incredible shock for all the boys also. No one within the club would cite it for poor performances yet it's the reality. Entering the changing area which he filled completely. Coping with it emotionally is difficult. Impossible.”
