Your Perfect Pocket Monster Tales: Z-A Super Form Based on the Astrological Sign
The return of Mega Evolutions in Pokémon Legends: Z-A has ignited immense enthusiasm across the community. From the one-by-one unveiling of newcomers ahead of the title's launch, to players forming firm opinions on the entire lineup of Mega Evolutions, there's a lot for enthusiasts to anticipate.
Given many of the Super Forms boasting unique designs that highlight their traits, one idea came to mind: What's the best way to connect this with astrology? This list is based on a mix of intuition, common zodiac traits, and individual observations.
Aries – Super Camerupt
Honestly, Houndoom was nearly selected for Aries, as they are the Super Form and astrological sign that inspire the greatest apprehension. However, a Mega Houndoom appears as constantly furious, which isn't typical of the Aries vibe, renowned for being playful, light-hearted, and spontaneous. That's why the Ram far more akin to Super Camerupt, which only spews lava when provoked. Stay on the good side of either and benefit from a strong partner; should you offend them, prepare to get burned.
Taurus – Super Heracross
Much like a devoted Taurus, the reliable Heracross, whether in its standard and Super Form, has assisted many players in Legends: Z-A. Though trustworthy, each the creature and a Bull are also Fighting types, and – be it their companion or a strong opinion – will stand up for their position unwaveringly. The thing about Mega Heracross that recalls most of my Bull-sign companions, however, is its unabashed love of snacks. Several previous Pokédex entries note their fondness for sweet tree sap and how it employs its appendage to hoard it everything, which is pure Taurus energy.
The Twins – Mega Medicham
Observe this absolute queen. You cannot convince me this creature is not the life of every party, providing an endless fountain of chatter to anyone who wants to hear. Just like an enrapturing, gregarious Gemini, it's very simple to envision Super Medicham mesmerizing an entire Wild Zone with their tales. Medicham’s official description also states its capacity to predict an opponent's future actions, which seems quite like a socially-savvy Gemini.
The Crab – Mega Manectric
Cancer is widely considered as the most sensitive member of the zodiac, a passionate symbol famous for often becoming absorbed in their emotions. Per the Pokédex, Mega Evolution charges the creature with a “huge amount of electricity, but it's excessive for Manectric to fully control,” which seems a lot like a classic Crab emotional outburst. This Pokémon is also known for its capability to create a thundercloud over its own head – and if there’s one thing a Cancer is going to do, it’s spoil their own parade.
The Lion – Super Starmie
Well, did you assume I was going to pick Pyroar for the king of the stars? Besides the fact that it would be much too on the nose, Leo is obviously Mega Starmie, the star whose legs just became an internet sensation for being too glamorous (or terrifying, based on your preference). Players were captivated from the purple starfish, and that’s precisely the same energy a Leo brings to the scene. This Pokémon is also rumored to be transmitting signals from its red core out into space, and it’s typical of a Leo to be putting on a show, even if for extraterrestrials.
The Maiden – Mega Victreebel
The ever-prepared and constantly-worried Virgo is ideally represented in Super Victreebel, the Mega with perpetual acid reflux. The sign famous for being endearingly critical is strongly reflected throughout this Pokémon’s entire lineage, from a always surprised expression like a Virgo when you tell them you lack a retirement plan, to its inverted visage that’s similar to the symbol a Virgo posts to the chatroom when everyone says they want to “go with the flow” rather than making a strategy.
The Scales – Mega Audino
Observe this sweet, sensitive being, who uses the sensors on its auditory organs to detect how others are emotionally by their pulse. Always empathetic – sometimes to a detriment – and trying to keep the peace, there are many Libras who would probably appreciate Super Audino's abilities. However, let’s be honest, it would likely just cause them to stress more about others.
Scorpio – Mega Banette
This Ghost-type is a creature with a unexpectedly tragic backstory: Discarded as a doll, it gained consciousness through pure resentment and swore revenge on its former owner. According to the official info, Super Evolution, “increases its vindictiveness.” That seems precisely like several conversations I’ve had with my scary Scorpio acquaintances. A Scorpion adores cosmic justice and comeuppance, making them the perfect match with Mega Banette.
Sagittarius – Super Hawlucha
Each Mega Hawlucha and Sagittarians are always putting on a performance. As a Sagittarius myself, the number of occasions I’ve referred to myself some version of a “playful small entertainer” is countless. The most flamboyant and most obnoxious Mega Evolution, its Pokédex entry even notes how it “poses to display its power.” I would do the very same thing if I had some kind of Super Form, making Super Hawlucha the most fitting Archer match I can think of.
Capricorn – Super Absol
Did you know that a Super Absol has the ability to foresee calamities in advance? That exudes the exact same energy as a Goat, who often consistently believe they’re right. Interestingly, similar to a prophetic Mega Absol, they often are. It’s also the very first Mega Evolution that players meet in Legends: Z-A – typical of a Goat to join the beginning of the Mega trend.
Aquarius – Mega Chandelure
Aloof air sign Water Bearer is possibly the non-fire sign that is closest to a fire sign – its counterpart is the Lion, and there are numerous jokes about Sagittarius and Aquarius being chaotic partners in crime. Mega Chandelure’s dual Ghost/Fire category fits perfectly with this, and the Mega’s overall daunting aura is also very Water Bearer. If you weren’t already convinced, the Mega’s Pokédex entry says it “absorbs negative energy and transforms it into power.” If that doesn’t perfectly {encaps
